Gleaning, Sowing, and Reaping
Be not
deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also
reap. 8 For he that soweth to his
flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit
shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. 9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in
due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Gal 6:7-9
We discussed in our last Tuesday prayer meeting the need to have proper perspective on serving God. That God is faithful to fulfill His promises to His people, as they continue to trust Him.
There is a season of reaping, as the Apostle exhorts, but only after you have labored faithfully, by grace in the cause of God .
Gleaning: Is that time when you are learning, receiving and being blessed by the labors of others for your spiritual and eternal welfare. “ Other men have labored and you get to enjoy the benefits. This time is for you. Enjoy it. When it is time, that must change!
Sowing: Are you in sowing mode? Has God laid it on your heart to become a co laborer with Him, in prayer? Giving? Helps? Teaching? Greeting? If so, it is because you have been blessed with a resources and gifts for that very purpose. Now you can prepare to be a blessing to others, as they have to you.
Reaping: Are you reaping now? Then it is because of the seed you’ve sown that is now coming to fruition. You see, all that hard work has it’s reward. The preacher said, there is profit to all labor. And the laborer is worthy of His hire.
Jesus sowed, His life, as a solitary seed. And look at what it produced. A magnificent field of redeemed sinners, from every nation.
“ He that goeth forth weeping , bearing precious seed,
shall doubtless come again, rejoicing, bringing His sheaves with Him” Ps 126

BITING THE HOOK:
And he said,
Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is
hard for thee to kick against the pricks. 6
And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to
do? Acts 9:5,6
I do not mind my hearers being angry with me
because of my preaching, for it is a good deal like fishing. If you have a good
large salmon at the end of the line, he will struggle and pull with all his
might, and thus he will swallow the hook all the more deeply, and there will be
the less likelihood of his getting away; and an obstinate resistance to the
Gospel is sometimes an indication that the Gospel is piercing and pricking the
hearer, and making him snap at it as a wounded beast tries to bite the spear
which has been thrust into him, and which he cannot pull out. C.H. SPURGEON
I have had the joyful
experience of several of you who were my enemies because of the message of the
gospel. You were in your natural condition and very obstinate to the truth, as
were we all. But God had mercy on you also! Ps 119:41/1Tm 2:12-15
Now we are friends and
brethren. What a mighty God. And yes it works the other way around also. P
Jesse
Brethren, be
followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an
ensample. 18 (For many walk, of whom I
have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies
of the cross of Christ:19 Whose end is
destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who
mind earthly things.)
Phil 3:17-19
